Philippine Small Farms: Profile and Policy Implications
By Centro Saka, Inc.
248 pages, P200.00
Crafting policies and programs aimed at developing small farms requires a basic understanding of the nature and characteristics of small farms. It is important to have a clear and objective assessment of the status of small farms and the small farmers to draw up appropriate interventions in the agricultural sector. It is in this context that Centro Saka conceptualized and conducted the Small Farms Survey. The survey was intended to provide baseline data on the nature of small farms and small-owner cultivators, as well as provide information about the small farmers' immediate environment. The results of the study would be very useful in helping define an effective and well-grounded mix of policies and programs that could support small farms and agricultural development.
